Lady G likes ice cream a lot. Lionheart would live in ice cream (well, okay, and frozen pizza) if Lady G allowed it. Of course she is not going to allow it!
Lady G's mother's favorite food was ice cream. Lady G has written an essay about her mother's last days, in which ice cream figures, not prominently, but importantly nonetheless. It is called MY MOTHER.
Lionheart's father was an expert maker of malts and milkshakes. Oddly enough he would make them in the same impressively immense malt/shake-maker. Lionheart's brother would demand a malt, and Lionheart a shake -- or was it the other way around? -- and their father would oblige. Did they notice it was all coming from the same source?
Lady G has a lighthearted memory of her childhood neighborhood ice cream man, who was, in fact, the Good Humor Man. His name was Steve. He was probably a kid but Lady G, being about nine, wouldn't have noticed that. He would drive right up the driveway of Lady G's house and ring the bell, knowing that her family would run out and buy a bunch of ice cream! Maybe he wasn't supposed to do that, because one day he got fired, or maybe he heard he was going to be fired. Whatever the case may be, Steve gave away free ice cream all that day. If he wasn't about to be fired before he did that, Lady G suspects he was afterwards!
On a sober note, both Lady G, who is not thin, and Lionheart, who is, are at risk for diabetes. If you are, too, or have alas wandered beyond the risk category, you need not wander off this page as well. We do our best to include sugar-free ice cream in addition to the full-sugar stuff.
It is very difficult to mail-order ice cream. It does tend to melt. However, you will find here not only ice cream makers, but ingredients for ice cream making, and that counts, doesn't it? You may find a spoon or scoop or two, too, as well as other accoutrements and a little reading material.
