GENESSA -- BOOKS ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST!
Lady G does not remember a time when she did not know about the Holocaust. She is not quite sure why. True, she was reading from about the age of four, but she wasn't reading about the Holocaust then. It may have been mentioned in school, but she cannot recall its being brought up until high school, by which time she already had known about it forever (and it wasn't much discussed in high school either, come to think of it).
When Lady G was 13, she had the pleasure of meeting a woman who would become a lifelong friend, and who was Lady G's mother's best friend. Lady G already knew what she was seeing the first time this friend bared her arms: the tattoo had not been placed there by its recipient's choice. This friend, by the way, has survived Auschwitz, divorce and Hurricane Katrina!
Well, she must have read about it. And read, and read and read! She and Lionheart recommend that you do likewise. This page may help. Although the many book covers may put a bit of a burden on your browser, be assured this selection is far from comprehensive. It is, however, a start.
NOTE: Inge Auerbacher, the author of the first book shown, is still alive and Lionheart and she have exchanged warm greetings.
