GENESSA -- BOOKS FOR AND ABOUT ACTORS!
Lady G, in addition to having studied (and practiced) thespian arts, has long been interested in reading about the lives and careers of others engaged therein. She has learned some things, in fact, not necessarily connected with acting, from her forays into biography and especially autobiography. For example, she learned how men urinate (and that Harpo Marx was as sweet and nutty offscreen and on) by reading Allan Sherman's autobiography, "A Gift of Laughter. She learned a lot about addiction (and cynicism) by reading the various autobiographical works of Oscar Levant, most of which is out of print and out of reach.
Here are some actors' (and other theatrical persons') biographies and autobiographies, and books about acting, which Lady G, in association with Amazon.com, hopes you will enjoy. They have been selected according to her tastes and thus might be found narrow, eclectic, strange, ordinary or... well, you decide.
